I looked at the sun for the first time
after being told it couldn't be done
it was the best thing I ever did
to take a risk to see the true color
deep inside the spinning disc in air
I was only in elementary I told no one
what I had done I thought my eyes
would burn and I'd go blind still
I didn't care I was looking for a sign
up there after hearing so many things
I went to school smile on my face
feeling like I been in outer space
said my prayer before bed told the
moon and the stars about how I
stared into the blaze like I was
in a daze from the rays I was raised
to look down as if there were
nothing to look up to so I had to
see what I was told wasn't there
