called a thief never took a dime
called a crook no committed crime
said I never was said I never did
said I never will still I stole and told
myself a lie I was young blamed it
on hard times a recorded message
I often rewind when I find myself
tangled in twine I have to cut
the line been there before know
the sign when it's time to exit sign
I thank God for life lessons
all the grace all the blessings
all the bullets I dodged all the
grazes sustain all the books read all
all the pages all the times I was
fed on small or no wages for
the times I been in a Lions den
without a scratch on me
turning over a new leaf is like
sitting in a tree house with no
friends gets lonely at the top
