I been called many of things
like those of my kind and kin
so many names how do I begin
from colored others and let's
not forget melanin beside
blood and bone I still don't
know what's under my skin
conscious population of
women and men why do we
continue to pretend the crowd
is out and we are in through
ancient lectures and literature
truth has not uttered a word
to loosen the noose on a
stiff neck quicken to interject
abort and reject but do we
respect if the truth is God
then we all can't know the
thoughts and ways we all
can't have peaceful nights
we can't have better days
even a butterflies flight is privy
to danger
