From afar I admire you,

I notice the slight frown when troubled,

The high pitch of your voice when you are excited,

That look in your eyes whenever your attention is caught,

but you do not notice me.

I speak to you daily,

And with the slightest of ease you reply,

But your gaze is not fixated on me,

It is what lies beyond you see.

Only once we truly spoke,

A question you asked of me,

Will you be lab partner,

Mine is sick and I don't quite get the material.

Without hesitation I said yes,

And for that brief period,

Our worlds were one,

But the bell disspelled the illusion,

And reality continued to run its course.

From afar I admire you,

Wishing that just once,

You would acknowledge my existence outside these walls,

Laugh with me as I tell a corny joke,

And maybe....just maybe be your friend.

A friend unlike those who pretend they are,

But a true friend,

A friend that will stand by your side even when you are in the wrong,

A friend that will share your pain when times get hard,

A friend that will comfort you,

But most of all a friend that will truly love you.

Alas, a wish such as this is meant for fairy tales,

As I stand before you,

What you see is transparency.
