Daily performance of wannabe stars
Required hoop jumping stunts for flashy cars
Life’s high stakes poker game,
Placing bets to see your name
Across marquee’s glowing lights
In LA, Hollywood and the like.
Endless dreams of “makin’ it”
Led to desperation while fakin’ it
Time taught lessons proved
Cold, harsh and unmoved.
Not everyone gets to see
Their dreams become a reality.
No decision saw regret
Just memories to reflect
This journey of one’s life
Gambled with rolled dice
On a hope filled destination
With unknown expectations.
As the ride begins to slow
The highs start to low
A not always given chance
Is merely life’s glance
When top names seem spineless
Simpler places remain timeless.
When life’s deck came up short
I remained with full support
Through all the ups and downs
From every city to every town
We took the rollercoaster ride
Every turn, low and high.
With his visions affixed on the stars.
His Fedora, pride and Cuban cigars
Made a few front cover pages
But never stayed on spotlight (lit) stages.
Revelations came when his rhythm lost its rhyme
And we returned to a simpler place in time.
