I was raised in a place some
call the bottom I was raised
to rise at an appointed time
no matter how many times
I been down I been out of
provisions no matter how
much I lacked and no
matter what couldn't get
no slack I've been on
my knees begging those
I love to please love me
back no matter how I
felt I couldn't make
others feel the same
this back been against
the wall been backed
into corners had to
come out swinging
that's what made me
a fighter when life is
on the line new found
strength you will find
I used to say yes all
the time now I politely
decline life lessons
not like the ones learnt
in schools come with
a different set of rules
first I had to learn
how to use the tools
to build a structure of
many stories and
climb the stairs to
a roof top view
to top the bottom
