one was a janitor or custodian one a maid or housekeeper they both swept & mopped floors they both cleaned commodes they both washed windows the both of them drank alcoholic beverages one would get drunk and pass out the other one laughed loud and had a ball one carried a purse the other swung a mean pocketbook one was from New Orleans the other was from Chicago Illinois one had sorority sister's the other had drinking buddies one smelled like fried apples and cinnamon the other reeked of booze and liniment they barely knew each other I was the first and only to one and one of many to the other one gave birth to my father one gave birth to my mother one was uppity one was down to earth they lived on opposite sides of the track one had a green lawn that got cut and watered regularly the other one had a few patches of grass they both were strong black women and they both could whip some tail they both could cook good food bake and make great pies and cakes they first met when I was born but they had one thing in common they both loved some me

Brought tears of joy as kelod memory went back to that day when I little Princess said, "hello Grandma" to my Mother who gave birth to me and my Aunt who raised me.
