My hair and I have been thru it

For awhile I was in love with it

As a child I was taught you're only pretty if you have long pretty hair

So I took pride in my mixed breed hair

Had a sassy attitude

Used to think I was so much pretty than you

I whipped it

I flipped it

Brushed it like crazy

Heard compliments all day

Til one day I realized I dont need my hair to define me

For my beauty is inside of me

I have cut my hair

Dyed my hair

Hated my hair

Loved my hair

Now I have covered my hair

Given God my hair

Prayed over my hair

See my hair and I are on a new ride

And in the end we both will survive
