we get one day of birth
many birthdays to come
to count our blessings
month upon month
day upon day
year upon year
while taken account of
time given here on earth
let us make allowances
for generation's to come
that the generation's to come
will know that we carried
weight on our shoulders
that they may bear
a much lighter load
just like those who bought
us into being and those
who came before them
laid steppingstones
on the rocky road
