I saw you standing on the corner saw when you began to cross saw you didn't look both ways when you begin to walk saw the truck coming saw when you started running but the street was too wide for you to make it to the other side in time I could do nothing sep't close my eyes saw your mutilated mangled body lying in the middle of the street now I have to look your mother in her crying eyes and say "sorry for your loss" but it wouldn't have to be this way if you had only looked both ways before you crossed
