lightness in the dark
Hey there my fellow poets! Blessings and greetings to you all for a prosperous new year. Life has been pretty rough for me since I last posted but nonetheless, as always with God's mercy and grace I've persevered. I'm finally at a point where I can start posting again. I so miss being on here and reading everyone's works. I hope that everything is going well for everyone. Let's keep the inklove flowing!

What He Said: MLK Day 2023

just different

What he said 55 years ago,

Changed millions of lives

Stirring hearts and minds

Yet angering some to a point

So piercing he was assassinated for it.

Did you know that he was the

FBI’s most hated person?

And despite being that,

This one man decided within himself

That a change had to take place.

He along with countless others

Attempted to put an end to

Racial discrimination and prejudice

At a time when it was at its peak.

But it was when his judgment

From mankind was brought to

The nation’s center stage

As he read his now iconic

I have a Dream speech that

Changed the dynamics of

What was to come.

What he said was

He had a dream

And that despite all the atrocities

He experienced over that time

He was happy that night

He wasn’t worried about anything

He wasn’t fearing any man

And all he wanted to do was God’s will.

What he said was

“Mine eyes have seen the glory

Of the coming of the Lord.”

He did what was asked of him

Because he was shown

A place had been prepared for him

He’s been to the mountain top

And that God allowed him to see

The promised land.

Can you imagine just for a moment

The enormity of how the thoughts

And actions of one man led to the

Impact of so many millions of lives

That it changed how we

Think and feel to this day?

I can’t even begin to describe

What he said.
