When I was a kid, I saw my parents often and actively chase and reach their dreams
In real time, so I understand exactly what it means
My mother owned her own Secretarial Services business and also moonlighted as Bubbles the Clown!
I recall watching her in character once, driving our car somewhere downtown
Wearing a Rainbow Afro and face makeup, painted in a frown
It was just another Tuesday for us, but her impact on me was quite profound
‘Anything is possible,’ mom would say, ‘Look at me, today I am a clown!’
When I was I high school, my father had what some might call a mid-life crisis
He ordered dozens of books and catalogs, and then made a list of measurements and prices
He, my mother, brothers and I, all dug out a large hole, the length of our garage and beyond
To manifest his dream of building Indianapolis’ largest Koi fish pond!
We filled it with concrete, pipes, pumps, and eventually live fish
‘Why let your hopes and dreams expire,’ Dad surmised , ‘When you can actually make them exist?’
