It's Good For You

but twice or more
white rice
isn’t good for me
brown rice
goes through my system
more evenly
more cleanly
not even noticing much the different taste
a steaming brown bowl
sitting in front of my face
but I like taste
not wanting to waste that bowl of
steaming brown rice
you told me was good for me
more than once or twice
I might add a little brown gravy
to the top of the steaming mound
the waiter frowned
when I asked it to be added to my bill
along with my well-done steak
no pink
but extra dark brown
and a little dab of
A-1 sauce
and I went to town
when done with my meal
sitting back in my chair with a touch of
“itis”
I looked down at the damage I had done
to philosophically contemplate
all my once brown food
reduced to
crumbs and scraps
on my brown dinner plate
yeah
the browning of my dinner was delicious
and so good
and so healthy too
an oncoming train to the station
of this nation
the browning of this country
will be delicious to the tummy
a little brown gravy
added to the halls of justice
will be wonderful
and so yummy
the white starchy food
served for so long to so many
spiking blood levels
spilling of blood
even the bleached
white sugar
for my morning coffee
I am often told
is not good for me
but brown sugar
to taste
will add to my longevity
America
is gaining what it so long has missed
so long resisted
a good browning of all things
and everything
ask your neighbor for a
cup of brown 
to borrow
anything
to ensure the health and well being
of everyone
tomorrow
