Charles2 says:

My father did one year in Nam. i did not. As an army brat, enraptured in my cocoon of fantasy. i theorized soldiering being around army bases all my early life, i was proud of what my dad did even though i knew something was off between blacks and whites. knowing we were treated ill, and nothing we did could fix it. Too young to fully understand i idolized heroes, although with a vivid imagination deep down i knew death and disability were part of the bid. worse yet, war was ultimately run by politicians-who didn't know . Marvin Gay said it better in my book. Jimi Hendrix caught the ambiance. Any way you cut the cake, WAR IS HELL!
