Remember when Miles d.

cracked the code...

Like Gabriel, blowing his horn

or was that J Coletrane on the saxophone

dropping the motherload ...on us

we knew then... there was genius among us

making it fun, just to be us ...again

to dispel the foul winds of the oppressive heat

placed upon us by some of those

who couldn't drop a beat if it fell on them

anyway, they held their nose high around us,

doing their thing, cuz they supposed

they were better than us in some way

but whenever Miles played we knew we had wings

whenever John Coltrane played my favorite things

we knew then was not that day

And the heavenly band of angels plays on and on

so when you hear us play

you know we can say, thank God

for people like us speaking to us in music

to our minds every moment we live

 knowing its right

on time
