I seen the spirit sitting
at the kitchen table
the spirit seen me too
watching every move
but it never moved
nor did the sight move me
ran and told what I saw
was told I saw nothing
so every night I sat
waiting for the spirit
to appear to me
just to see if it was there
or was I dreaming
soon as I stood up to go
a figure darted past
when I looked up
the spirit was there
wearing different clothes
than before it was colder
than it ever been
I thought I could never
get my feet warm again
this time I told no one
every time the dog ran
as if he had seen a ghost
