in my head the voices echo
the laughter i long to hear
they echo the love i long to feel
the touch of the one i love
and know to be real
why my eyes are shut
vivid images of smiles play
laughter and dancing fill the room
the mirages that play
keep the loneliness at bay
the laughter and music
at my heart string tug
although an illusion it may be
my heart longs
for the time my eyes are closed
for there, peace in love reigns supreme
