The Mirror
As she stands looking in the mirror, it isn’t her reflection she sees. The ghostly look in her eyes, she realizes her soul is gone. Her heart no longer beats a rhythm, instead it just beats enough that she lives.
She looks in that mirror so long her mind reflects on her life. The mirror shows her past. She begins to wonder how she got here. The mirror shows her secrets. It shows the hurt. It shows her fears.
She continues to look. Haunted by the mirror, because it never lies. Her eyes unveil her darkest moments, every flaw of herself she sees. Make-up can’t cover the internal bruises.
In the mirror she hopes to see a glamorous future, instead she sees herself spiraling out of control fast. So fast she can’t get a grip on life, she can’t find a way to turn it around. She sees no way out. Stuck in the mirror, afraid of her reflection. Trapped in her mind.
The mirror breaks, she still isn’t free. Hiding from her reflection. Afraid to let go. Afraid to move forward. Stuck, trapped in the mirror.
