They called it ‘puppy love’
but this love was more like
a cub.
We was, just two kids on a
playground. Little balls of emotions going
round and round like the wheels on a bus.
We was ‘dizzy in love’.
Couldn’t tell if it was authentic
or just the -merry go round-
Whatever it was, we felt the
Student Council meeting
wasn’t enough to stop us
from calling the other's bluff.
See, earlier that day I almost threw up
my guts – mustering the nerve to finally sit next
to my crush.
It all happened at lunch, we traded.
A cookie for a punch.
I watched anxiously as she ate it.
When she was done I asked her how it was
you know, because moms made it.
She took one sip from her milk and
looked up.
With a smile she said “I don’t really
like raisins but that was amazingâ€
All I heard was amazing. In my head I was like
‘perfect’. Here's an opportunity for me to ask
if she wanted to hold hands while we walked to class.
Too bad the only thing any of us could hear was
the bell ring…
