lightness in the dark
Hey there my fellow poets! Blessings and greetings to you all for a prosperous new year. Life has been pretty rough for me since I last posted but nonetheless, as always with God's mercy and grace I've persevered. I'm finally at a point where I can start posting again. I so miss being on here and reading everyone's works. I hope that everything is going well for everyone. Let's keep the inklove flowing!

Yesterday Once More

long distance

Memories of long walks
Along the shorelines
Where the ocean whispered
As it collected our sandy footprints
Find their way back home
Every now and again.

Recollections of midday lunches
And evening dinners with the
To die for flavors that
Made us laugh and hunger for them
Stopped by for a visit.

Memories of breakfast at sunrise
And a table for two accompanied by
A single red rose in a crystal vase
And moments of breakfast in bed
With my favorite meal and waiter,
Just rang my memory’s doorbell.

Each and every recollection is
The engine that drives my soul.
It’s the sense of your touch
That courses through my veins,
Finds its way to my heart
Increasing my palpitations as
I internally explode with excitement
Remembering the very sight of you.

And even though with this
Unexpected bittersweet moment
Reclaiming its rightful place
In my cerebral vault leaves
My heart, temporarily pained
I smile in the moment regardless
As I’m captured by visions of
Yesterday once more.

Wow! What a beautiful shared contemplation. Took me back to early childhood on the Gulf of Mexico, Manhood developed on the Caribben Ocean, greying on the Pacific, and now here...at least near...the Alantic mellowing out. Loved the last stanza. Thanks for the share. Peace and Lowe, M. Lowe
