I can't tell the river from the ocean
all I know is it's a lot of water
in the sea I know a house it sits
on pillars cause it's a lot of water
underneath when burying a
body don't dig the hole too deep
you might wake the sleep I been
to the house only once a long
time ago the place was full of
smiling people and the nicest
folks you ever want to meet
all the neighbors spoke and
everybody claim to be kin to
me I had a great auntie who
was blind she had a gun
shots rang out every time
she shot at a rat she killed
a mouse I miss those
homemade biscuits and
Crawfish bisque now it's all
water under the bridge
literally it washed away still
I can paint the picture clear
like a movie on a screen
enough for you to see
the house in New Orleans
