last summer a black crow
landed in the same spot
almost every day at the
same time not sure if it
was the same one or not
the caw and croak sound
it made could't be ignored
like an alarm clock it
really woke me up then
I noticed that bread lady
had not made her usual
rounds she feeds all the
birds in the neighborhood
I think the crows miss
her dearly I named her
the bread lady because
she always walks around
with a bag of bread
some call her the bird lady
others call her the crazy lady
we have a tendency to
slap labels on people
don't we I think her
name is Mary it was
told to me once but I
forgot it I don't see
crazy in a person who
feed Gods ceatures one
time she stood in the
middle of the street
stretching her arms out
from her side one would
think she done lost it
but that wasn't it I
witnessed something I
couldn't imagine birds
flew in from different
directions landed and
perched on her upper limbs
Mary or whatever her
name is far from being
crazy she was amazing
recently I heard from
around the way she's
gone on to glory
if only I had enough
courage to say to her
"hey tree lady
tell me your story"
