maybe kick back and unwind, play
some music... drink some sweet elixir
i must be dreaming... back in the day
we'd have get togethers and play
if you were religiously inclined
gather families and pray
unless the authorities got mean and ugly
and the people might have to show up
and raise hell, just so that they'd know
we were nobody to play with
but, now entertainment is automated
drugs get delivered by mail
and the rich folks are holding the cards,
to make you come by their way
pay to eat, pay for a place to sleep
pay to play games, streaming movies
to make you pay your way
straight to a Hell...
if you are into that game
even make you forget
don't forget your merch.
the universe is watching
so many are so immersed, you fight
over who's the biggest sucker...
to charge you for the time
you are plugged into the TV(IV),
to stain your mind with the tattoo
of your favor, charge you double-time
to blow your mind and eat your time
a drug to possess your spirit...
deadening your response to
take away your sense of responsibility
put your mind to sleep
make you fat and lazy
leave you open to suggestion
so your wallet becomes public property
picking your pockets,
your mind, your sanity, your time
have you seeing yourself in the TV
calling it reality/sorry, not for me
the ritual program will drop
a heavy load on your common sense
flip the script and lie, lie, lie
till you die, die, die...
if they hadn't yet, they'll take your will
to make you search your soul
and curse the devil
all the way to Heaven/or Hell
meanwhile , all your favorite shows
telling you like it is/was/could be
pauses frequently
for a commercial break
Still, thinking the programming was free
the set-up continues...
on deeper into the well...
of preposterous insanity
for the most popular shows.
they know you'll go for it
they know you perceive it as your life,
as if they're doing you a favor
picking your pockets for some
"spare change" while you sit
with loved ones by your side
taking them with you on the ride
rich folks getting richer all the time
while you are getting less and less
And like all the other street hustlers
yours is the same game different flavor
Not in for the game, pity the fool

just to mystify and amaze you
