We were born children
Of the King
The path set before us
A pre-determined thing.
Learning to live
Day by day
We carry the torch
That lights our pathway.
Passing along
What we’ve learned
Giving thanks to God
For what we’ve earned.
Teaching the young
All that we know
Allowing the torchlight
To stay aglow.
Since the road ahead of them
They cannot foresee
We must guide them along
As they begin their journey.
Watching them grow
Into young ladies and men
We become our elders
As our time nears its end.
Onward and upward
We push on
Making our way
Through the storm.
Looking back at
The footprints in the sand
What we’ve learned in our youth
In our age we’ve come to understand.
Guided by His light
We’ve made it safe thus far
We each take our place
As one of Heaven’s stars.
Although the journey
For us has come to end
Our torch is passed on
And the path is lit once again.
