Once upon a lifetime
Some years ago
There were many things I knew
But so much more I didn’t know.
What I was doing with my life
And where it was going
Were the top two stops
In “The Land of Not Knowingâ€.
My mind was here and there
Not focused on a single thing
Not even paying attention to
What the next day would bring.
Living life day by day
Became my “style of choiceâ€
Wanting to be with the “status quoâ€
Deafened my ears to God’s voice.
No one ever said to me
“Hey you, pay attention!
Someone’s here for you
Something they conveniently forgot to mention.
My prince had arrived
With opened arms and a loving heart
Only to find that I was gone
And all of his feelings had to part.
And like a fool I went on
Blinded by back pats and smiles
Missing out on the chance of a lifetime
But by then I had been gone for miles.
My heart broken in pieces
My world coming to an end
The thought of not seeing you
Ran through my mind over and over again.
But low and behold
As God’s grace is so good
He brought you back into my life
As he said he would.
The flame in my soul
Grows brighter each and every day
As the comforting sound of your voice
Makes me smile in every way.
Time has brought us back together
Even though it set us apart
The one thing that remains
Is the love for you in my heart.
So when we see each other again
Whatever day it will be
I pray our love remains as
Strong for you as it is for me.
