In the blink of an eye, the world lost a Prince and a King,
Too soon, feels like a strange dream,
Where the voices that helped to define us are suddenly gone,
So I play and sing along to some of my favorite songs,
To drive away the doom and gloom with harmonies so iconic,
Some say music is dead, I agree - how ironic,
Lately, it seems the rich and famous are dropping like flies,
So we lament our lost artists’, entertainers’, and perfect strangers’ abbreviated lives,
Survived by their work, awards, fans, friends, kids, husbands, and wives,
It is rare to admire and miss someone whom you’ve never met,
RIP to Prince Rogers Nelson and so many others we should never forget.
