What is it really that we’re so afraid to face?
We already know this world’s a cruel place
It’s no surprise that it’s all about the chase
We’re chasing money, happiness, and stability
Constantly trying to prove our worth and ability
But get brought down by frustrations and hostilities
But how much does this really matter in the end?
Does it matter how much money you can spend?
Can money really buy you happiness or friends?
Can it buy you self-esteem and personal worth?
How about health? Can money stop all of the hurt?
What about love? Is this all we should deserve?
And what about wisdom and personal evolution?
So what’s the point of it all? What’s the solution?
It’s harder to achieve with all this spiritual pollution
And what’s the ultimate goal? What’s the truth?
Some people spend lives looking for a fountain of youth
And others find truth in a bottle of 80 proof Absolut
Other people pray to Jesus, Allah, Buddha or nature
Trying so hard to get close to their supposed creator
I guess people need to believe in something much greater
Which this all brings me back to my original question
Can material things really make up for past transgressions?
What about all of our efforts? Are we just clowns in procession?
If there’s a greater purpose then why should we fear?
And if we only have one life that means death can be near
So why bother with anger? You might as well stay clear
Because in the end nothing might even really matter
No need to go crazy in this life like the mad hatter
I guess the point of it all is don’t get attached to things
If there’s something out there, these things you can’t bring
