Concrete Jungle

Life in this city has been hijacked
Pretty lights and sounds distract
From all the monotony lacking abstract
Our dreams are slipping through cracks
And knowledge is coming after the fact
Our egos are being fed and remaining intact
And innocence is constantly under attack
It’s a dream within a dream within a cell
Concrete jungles breeding empty shells
Where lost souls and demons do dwell
Don’t look too far for what they call hell
Just listen to any of the stories they tell
It feels like humanities under some spell
Occupying the woods is sounding real swell
Tell me for whom or for what are we living?
Receiving much less than all that we’re giving
Players on a board and nobody’s winning
Temptations calling, it’s easy to start sinning
Trying to feel whole but nothing‘s quite filling
I think it’s time for a brand new beginning
Concrete jungle and its soul that it’s missing
Working so hard and losing your health
Then try and fix it spending your wealth
Putting on masks and forgetting ourselves
Forget your dreams or put them on shelves
Meanwhile life passes you moving in stealth
I think there’s more meaning and purpose
Than being a number plugged into the circuit
Forgetting who and what we are really hurts us
It seems breaking free really takes courage
To who or what do we really owe our service?
