Just Do Your Part

For all the one way communications,
For all the “can you do this for me”
For all the “can I get a ride here”
For all the times when calls or
Messages go unanswered,
Let not your mind be troubled,
For when good is given freely
It will surely be returned the same.
Just keep going and do your part.
By human nature we’re always
Looking for something in return.
Setting ourselves up for disappointment
Instead of looking at the purpose
Of the appointment.                                             
If someone doesn’t do for you,
After you’ve done for them,
Doesn’t mean it’s a one way street
All things will come in due time
Just do your part.
So where is the balance
Between doing for each other
Without feeling used?
That’s not for us to worry about,
Just do your part
And things will work out.
Every road has its north and south
As each intersection has
Its east and west
And no matter the direction in which
Our paths take us,
As long as we do what
Our creator asks of us
We’ll receive His blessings
As we justly deserve.
