Never gave myself a chance to be sad

The loneliness was lost before

I ever let it consume my heart

All the memories come rushing back

At once

Reminding me of the wonderful times

The nights we held each other

I felt so strong in your arms

The way you kissed my cheek

Bright and early

So happy to see my face

It’s such a shame we didn’t last

Sometimes I miss your warmth beside me

I would awake to the motion of your chest

Apart of me scrambles to forget

Such evenings

When we would fight

Argument after argument

Until the sun shown bright

Then we’d both break down

And cry

Dreams were our getaway

Where we could escape

The conflicts of our day

I was never there to comfort you

The way I should

I turned into some stranger

You hardly knew

So did you

Where did our love go?

So close we were

So far you are

But in the same room

The nightmare has begun

We never stop to think

There are no more kisses to greet

No places to meet

What’s left of this

Two separate souls

Ready to journey out

On distant roads
