She wore a scarf
And that understanding smile
It's been imprinted in my mind I guess
that scarf...that never goes out of style

She had it knotted under her chin, you know...
the 1950's style, and how scarfs tended to be worn
Likening that scarf to head wraps ancestors donned
Such stunning colors and prints their heads would adorn

Those scarves depicted the beauty and wisdom of countless queens
imparting life lessons, understanding, love and care
Words were shared in such a way that they weren't forgotten
Precious memories have that energy that will always be there

My mother's scarf had that same eternal energy
I feel as though I'm wearing it, as I smile warmly today
Her unconditional love has been passed through generations
It will be alright, is what I still hear her say

I shared this with my son and daughter
So that they could be aware
That although she passed before they were born
Their grandmother's love, is always there

She wore a scarf
And that understanding smile
It's been imprinted in my mind I guess
that scarf...that never goes out of style

Hi Woven, Many work hard to make money, but we should work harder to make memories, because next to life they are more valuable, especially when loved ones are no longer physically with us. I was truly touched by the tenderness of this lovely expression! Thanks for sharing!
