Yesterday marked 30 days to the day
That my life changed forever.
I’ve cried, tearfully smiled and had
My guardian angel watching over me.
There won’t be a day that goes by
Where I won’t miss him.
Regardless of what happened
In between I do and ‘til death do us part,
We owned every fault and short coming
Known to mankind.
It was my obligation but most of all
My honor as his wife
That I see him all the way to the end.
To where I could no longer
Reach and touch him
One last time.
I thank God for every prayer,
Hug, hand hold and word of comfort
That came my family’s way.
So I put it in a short write
I entitled “Thank You.”
Words are only a portion of
My feelings that I can express
At this time.
Just know that although
A tear may surface
Every now and again,
A smile comes with
Each and every one of them
As the memory of my husband
Lives on in the lives
Of everyone he’s touched
Over the years.
Thank you and may God continue
To bless each and every one of you
And watch between me and thee
Even when we’re absent
One from another.
Amen.
