Modern Day Slavery

Modern Day Slavery, Is that even true?
Us black folk done evolved over time, look at all we been through
We may have came a long way, but only in our imagination
Taking four steps back in our forward migration

From rich to poor, life's a
Gotten so bad, that it caused most of us to switch
Our lifestyle, our identity, hell even our behavior
Looking up to a mystical white man as our only begotten savior

Look at our enviroment, the news, even the internet
It all shows us that we ain't free as of yet
99.99% of all black men nationwide's got some type of a criminal background
So how can it be said that our life's safe and sound

Who holds the cards to our economic stability
Sure the hell ain't us, even though we have the ability
Still thinking that massa is our best benefactor
Still using our backs to carry his load like a dragged out, two legged, broken down tractor

Ain't nothing wrong with getting paid
But why isn't there any black international trade?
Why can't we own a company stock of our choosing?
Why in the hell are we still loosing?

I heard of a saying, "Support Black-owned businesses"
It sure sounds good, yet we have no witnesses
Only hair salons, barber shops, clothing stores, a few soul food restaurants
All in the ghetto, where poverty haunts, and nobody else wants

Truth be told, we're still living in captivity
Jim Crow rules, as we walk/dance/sing in blind naivete
So much for equality, a false sense of neuratic bravery
who's gonna help ourout now, to end Modern Day Slavery
