four were killed around my way today
not to mention the 3 yesterday
black on black crime
on MLK’s recognized holiday
most only cared about school being out
others got the day off
from a long weekend
It’s not yet midnight
I’m still hearing gunshots
when did we go from defending our rights
to taking each others life
do we remember the dream?
it appears that most of us are still asleep
those who are awake
are those who are trying to overcome
night...mares
