lightness in the dark
Hey there my fellow poets! Blessings and greetings to you all for a prosperous new year. Life has been pretty rough for me since I last posted but nonetheless, as always with God's mercy and grace I've persevered. I'm finally at a point where I can start posting again. I so miss being on here and reading everyone's works. I hope that everything is going well for everyone. Let's keep the inklove flowing!

If I Could, I Would

If I could hug away your pain
It would never come back again.
If I could walk a mile in your shoes
So you could rest your feet
I would do it in a heart beat.
If you were running out of time
I would give you mine.
As much as you needed
To bring your worries to an end.
If I could bring a smile to your face
That would stop your tears for good
To lighten your heart once and for all
I'd do all that I could
But what if it were I who needed help,
Could you do the same for me?
Would you walk a mile in my shoes,
Hug away my pain, give me your time
No matter what the cost would be?
There couldn't be any second thoughts
No doubts or hesitation
We'd ride together to where ever
No matter the destination.
Could you put a smile on my face
To stop my the flowing of my tears
Would you whisper I love you
Softly in my ear?
Would you do for me
What I'd do for you
Whatever the situation may be?
As we become one
And as I live for you
Could you live for me?

Great title great poem and most important great last question. I have heard if is the biggest word in the dictionary and the poem If by Rudyard Kippling my favorite poem, that poem and book of Proverbs shaped my early teen life
