Day after day
The fog thickens between us
And you begin to fade away
Self, we need to talk.
I see you everyday
Coming and going
Running here and there
Keeping responsibilities flowing
But Self, take a moment we need to talk.
You've been doing so much
For everyone else but you
Did you happen to notice
That your time has come due?
Self, are you listening, do you hear me?!
If I can see it
I know you can feel it
If you just stop for a moment
We can heal it.
Now do I have your attention, Self?
You have to take time out
For yourself, for us
Even in the midst of
All the hoopla and all the fuss.
Do you understand where I'm coming from, Self?
I'm glad we had this talk, Self
Now go, reclaim your life's wealth
Do what makes you happy
But most of all, be yourself.
